The Poly·cri·sis

noun Solarpunk Game’s metaphor for 2026 IRL

The Polycrisis is a situation in which multiple, distinct crises (economic, environmental, geopolitical, social, or technological) occur simultaneously and interact in ways that amplify each other, producing outcomes more severe than the sum of the individual crises. The concept highlights the interdependencies and feedback loops between global systems, where shocks in one domain (e.g., climate change, financial instability, pandemics, energy insecurity, or political conflict) cascade into others. -Polycrisis, Wikipedia

There isn’t actually a monstrous monster poised to strike the Earth, but the term “polycrisis” is increasingly being used to describes the actual reality of humanity’s situation. We face multiple crises and we are having to increasingly deal with them all at the same time, including the new crises that emerge as things get increasingly more complicated and chaotic: Economic crises, A.I. and technological crises, increasing Natural Disaster crisis, Global Health crises, Mental Health crises, Climate crisis, Geopolitical and Security crises…the list continues.
